School Sisters of Notre Dame

Responding with compassion, meeting changing needs

MORE Multicultural School for Empowerment

Founded with the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1985, MORE Multicultural School for Empowerment is a multicultural, multiracial, community-based organization of residents at McDonough public housing project in the north end of St. Paul. MORE pursues a mission of empowering individuals and the community through a range of activities and a core respect for peoples' spiritual and cultural differences as well as their common personhood.

MORE focuses on the formal education of immigrants and refugees, helping meet the basic needs of impoverished people and families, advocating for justice issues, and leadership development. Staff members at MORE teach English, math and citizenship skills to immigrants and refugees.

Volunteer Opportunity:

Multicultural, multilevel tutoring of English or work in the MORE Garage (a sort of "thrift shop") providing outreach for various cultures.
