Olympic Ponderings
Are you watching or in some way keeping track of the Olympic games inVancour?
It’s a whole world event and by watching we somehow feel connected to all peoples around the world. We all center on one spot and become breathless as we watch with awe all that the participants are able to accomplish. We admire all the years of practice, determination, training and discipline that these people have committed themselves to. We gasp when they fall. We cheer when they win.
How do I prepare for my daily “Olympic challenge”? They practice their routines daily for many years. We daily go about our routines – cleaning the house, driving to work, studying our assignments, meeting folks along our daily journey etc. I want to be attentive and mindful of what I do – how ever little or mundane. It is hard to keep that focus and presence. My thoughts can wander all over the place as I try to be mindful of what I am doing. Sometimes that can be creative but often it is fretting about some past failure or worrying about some future event.
It’s great that we don’t’ have a panel of judges rating us on our slightest move. Nor do we have to perform our every day tasks with all eyes on us. But we do know if we have done “our personal best”
