Choosing community, celebrating faith

Meet our Sisters

Visit us often, as new sisters will be featured regularly. Hopefully this "snapshot" will help you learn a bit more about our community and the ways we respond to God's call in our lives.

Name: Sister Francanne Etringer (pictured top right with Sister Mary Kay Ash)
Years Professed: 45
Ministry: Pediatric Physical Therapist, New Orleans

1. What do you find most life giving about being an SSND? Living in community with another Sister who values religious life. Our prayer life, Monday night game night, and carrying out our community goals energizes me.

2. How has community been a gift and/or challenge for you? The love and support that I feel in time of crisis and struggle. To clearly communicate with each other. To accept our different ways of dealing with stress and to help each other grow as a person. Also to grow deeply in living a common life together of which Christ is the center.

3. What do you find life giving about your current or a past ministry? My current ministry is treating babies birth- 3 years old in their homes. Often, I can support the parents in understanding the physical problems of their baby. But more often it leads to questions which are religious in nature.

4. Why do you continue to be a vowed religious? Because I love it. It is like the right shoe for me. At times, I feel the pinch, but it is my favorite pair which fills me with so much love and satisfaction.

5. What do you enjoy doing with your free time? Reading a novel. I’m a Harry Potter fan. Seeing a good movie. I paint with water color paints. I love nature…go to the park or lake.
